Each day’s walking began with an act of worship. The timings for the day were fairly flexible, depending on progress during the day, opportunities to stop and talk to people and so on. We were pleased to welcome some people to join us for whole days, and others who joined us for just part of a day.
Walks were on cycle/pedestrian paths, minor roads (occasionally for shorter distances only on busy roads) and rights of way across countryside. Occasionally uneven ground on some walks necessitated climbing over stiles.
Walkers needed good walking shoes or boots, comfortable clothing with spare warm clothing and waterproofs (and on some occasions sun hats!), and provided their own lunch, snacks and drinks. Stops were arranged with access to toilets wherever possible. Support was available to walkers, with lifts to get back to the starting point offered by a team of volunteers.
We were also grateful to those who instead of walking preferred to staff our stall at one or more of the markets we attended or offered backup support.
